From the frontline trenches of teaching Sunday School for 37 years and annual cousins camps for her grandchildren for the last 16 years, combined with reading through the Bible chronologically and annually for fifteen years, the stories of the Bible become alive in her teaching.
Combined with modern resources available to all homeschoolers, like YouTube how-to's, satellite maps, drone flyovers, and hands-on learning, Peggy Consolver has a wealth of wisdom to share and encourage.
Peggy Miracle Consolver's Bible studies disguised as action novels have emerged from her multiple years of reading through the Bible chronologically. Her fiction speaks to the reader from a deep point of view from the main characters' experiences. From the amazing stories of the Bible she fills in the gaps where God is silent—and gives an eye witness account. Her principal characters live the historical events in real time in the Late Bronze Age.
Many of her insights come from having grown up on a farm in a large family and from her knowledge of agriculture and horticulture.
Consolver began to write after a brush with breast cancer. Her granddaughter at seven years old, told her, "Grammy, I want to write books when I grow up!" Author said to herself, "I thought the same thing when I was her age, but if I'm going to do that I'd better get started!"
In 2010, the author joined an archaeological dig at Khirbet el Maqatir just five miles from El Jib, the confirmed present-day site of ancient Gibeon. On a side trip with a Palestinian tour guide, author visited Gibeon and stood on the summit where her characters stood. She saw modern Jerusalem on the horizon.
On another trip to Israel in 2017 Consolver explored the environs of ancient Jerusalem including the Waters of Nephtoah and The Hill of Evil Counsel. Somehow, indeed providentially from her point of view, these sites were preserved from the modern urban encroachment all around them. Ancient history taking place there leapt onto the written page.
Consolver's other interests are her grandchildren and gardening. She has hosted annual summertime cousins' camps for the past sixteen years. Some of the "camp" activities have been hiking, fishing, swimming, golfing, archery, visiting museums, volunteering at a ministry that provides shoes for orphans, and visiting a college campus.
Having taught Sunday School for 37 years, Consolver is a women's Bible study leader in her church. She lives in Plano, TX with her husband and with her children and grandchildren nearby.
